ORIGIN
ZHEJIANG, CHINA
I grew up sheltered by feminine strength and protection.
Powerful, subtle, soft, awkward.
An unspoken love, as silent noir black, as fiery blood.
Love is both sustenance and pressure.
Our flesh, knowledge, thought, wealth, and love are tied through blood and memory. strings, hair, veins, muscle, DNA... that binds us together.
Generation after generation.

I am a carrier.
The love of the women in my family flows through my body,
my words,
my hands...

I follow traditional and painstaking routines, torturing myself.
My hands, back, eyes, and my body ache with fatigue.
The process feels like self-discipline, painful yet unavoidable.
East Asians tend to suffer and sacrifice themselves to show love and devotion.
I hate this mindset, yet everyone, myself included, continues to follow it.
I tell stories with extreme hues.
I create soft nests out of soft materials. I lie down, curled and unguarded, returning to the state with nothing as if newly born into the world.
I twine, I knit, I embroider, I write....
