ORIGIN
MI
It is not all that I see.
Forms rest in silence,
breathing beneath their edges,
holding the weight of beginning and end.
Light grazes their boundaries,
shadows hum their quiet defiance.
I follow,
chasing whispers of a shape
that will not hold still.
They rise, proud and unyielding,
cruel in their indifference,
humble in their permanence.
Gentle, too—
like leaves surrendering to autumn,
falling without protest.
Still, I persist.
