DEPARTMENT
INTERACTION DESIGN

ORIGIN
SANTIAGO, CHILE

I use design as a tool for connection: to oneself, to our surroundings, to others. I create sensory events that compel presence. In a technology-driven world, I use technology to reconnect to the tangible.

I explore the overlaps between the senses, how they complement and interact with one another and reveal what often goes unnoticed. I explore natural and artificial light as mediums, molding it through diffusion, reflection, distortion and absorption. I study its relationship to space and person. How does it affect our perception of a place? How does it affect our bodies and behaviors? I study the meaning and meaninglessness of time as a coping mechanism for its inevitability. How is it expressed through our rituals and in nature? How do we conceptualize it in the absence of man-made structures? How can we learn to accept it?

At the root of my work is observation: of ourselves, of our needs and our habits, of overlooked details, of nature, of each other, of that which we cannot control.
