AMY
SUBLETT
DEPARTMENT
INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
ORIGIN
PACIFIC GROVE, CA
Amy comes from California’s central coast. Growing up
in Pacific Grove, she developed an affection for small
towns and sentimental things. Her fondness for the
many landscapes of her home state led Amy to pursue a
Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree at Cal Poly,
San Luis Obispo. Here, she leaned into art as a means
of placemaking and integrating creative expression into
design work. While beginning her professional career
as a landscape designer, Amy developed her skills as
an artist and maker, exploring a range of media. She
believes her background in landscape architecture adds
dimension to her work, as she continues to investigate
space, lives, objects and the stories between them. Her
work at Cranbrook has focused on themes of home:
home in physical nature, stories, in human nature,
home as space and material. Her work questions
presentation and performance, as playful forms gesture
to deeper assumptions. Amy sees her design work as an
opportunity for the daily application of visual art and a
means of curating thought-provoking environments.
